Meet Marshall Laidlaw, Youth Advocacy Intern
Marshall Laidlaw is RiseUp Red Wing’s Youth Advocacy intern. In his role, he researches and creates opportunities to expand youth voice in Red Wing by collaborating with students, community members, and partners. This summer, he is creating a youth advocacy network to foster ways for youth to actively participate in community decision-making processes and use their voices to make change.
Marshall is passionate about fostering communities of care, support, and storytelling to help youth find a sense of belonging and critically engage with their world, and he’s excited to amplify the diverse perspectives and experiences of the youth in Red Wing. Previously, Marshall worked for the City of Red Wing in communications and community engagement. He wrote and produced a video series for the City detailing Red Wing’s rich history, as well as a Local Government 101 video series.
A 2020 graduate from Red Wing High School, Marshall is currently pursuing his B.A. in religion, German, and identity studies at Luther College. In his spare time, he’s a poet, avid reader, and full-time Swiftie.
